As I get older, I am finding self-love ever more important. I am a much happier, kinder person than I was ten years ago, hell, even five years ago, and I am beginning to actually love myself. Maybe that’s a bit hokey sounding, but I spent far too many years under a cloud of self-loathing. It’s refreshing to be able to stand up and say, “I love me.”
I also love my family. I love Timothy. I love my friends. I love the tortoise.
How could I not love the tortoise. He’s the best.
When I found out it would be unlikely that Teej and I would be spending Valentine’s Day together (he arrives home late tomorrow night, weather permitting), I decided to treat myself to a little gift from LUSH. UPS mis-delivered it on the 3rd, and I was fearful I would never see it, but somehow my package found its way into my hands in this blizzard.
LUSH’s Neon Love gift contains the following:
- red Fun (citrus-scented moldable soap)
- bubblegum lip scrub
- Turkish Delight shower smoothie (rose-scented)
- From Dusk til Dawn massage bar
- Neon Love soap (passion fruit scented)
The massage bar (the gold-dipped cone above) is a partner-gift, but the rest is for this girl. Scent and warmth are powerful healers. Each product in the gift is preservative-free and vegan.
LUSH’s 2014 Valentine’s Day line was inspired by 12 Months of Neon Love.
Right now, LUSH is partnering with All Out in support of LGBTQ rights in Russia, and all over the world. You can read more about the Sign of Love project here.
I am thankful that I have not directly known, and will likely never come to face, many of the hardships that so many of my friends have known. I am also thankful that I have a voice to stand up against hatred and cruelty. I will always choose to use that voice, in support of the people I care about (and I suppose some people I will never have the joy of loving).
Have a happy ♥ day.
Spread kindness. Spread acceptance. Show love.
Thanks for stopping by. My name is Naomi, and this space is made of girldust. This blog is a picture of my comfortably scattered life on the coast of Maine.
