It’s March, and of course that means that I already have swim style on my mind. These are some of my favorites from ModCloth. And surprise, not all of these are black, but most can be paired with black pieces! One of my goals for this summer is to get myself to the beach more often. We live so close to the coast, and I think I might love the ocean more than I dislike the seasonal crowds.

I promise, dear internet friends, that I have posts in draft with more depth to them. The problem is that writing that way takes serious time and care, and far more attention than I can give in the midst of serious assignments. For now, swim suits. Because.

Swimsuit Edition: Favorites from ModCloth

  1. Need I Say Shore one-piece in Deco
  2. Free Heart Robe (Free People)

I love the softness of the Deco suit. It’s got just enough black detailing that I think it would work really well with a sheer or lace black cover up, like this one from Free People.

Swimsuit Edition: Favorites from ModCloth

  1. Crisscrossed my Mind one-piece
  2. When and Flair one-piece

These two black basics each have great unique twists! One-piece suits don’t have to be boring. I am a huge fan of cut outs.

Swimsuit Edition: Favorites from ModCloth

  1. Par for the Shore one-piece
  2. Yoga Triangle sandal (Sanuk)

This little peachy suit might be my favorite of the whole bunch!  And while we’re talking about summer style, I want to take a moment to recommend Sanuk Yoga sandals to anyone who has gotten blisters from cheap rubber flip flops, summer after summer (after summer). I bought a pair a few years ago and will never go back. The Yoga line comes in a few different styles (the “mat” and “triangle” styles are my favorites), all of them with squishy squashy comfy rubber foot beds and soft straps. I got two summers of hard and non-stop wear out of my first pair, zero blisters.

Swimsuit Edition: Favorites from ModCloth

  1. Bathing Beauty two-piece in black
  2. Set the Serene top and bottom in Pineapples
  3. Sync or Swim top and bottom
  4. Hip, Hip, Soleil! top and bottom

Two-pieces! Okay so I am totally obsessed with that pineapple suit. Pair any of these, though, with the Esther Willams Bathing Beauty in black, and you have a winning combination (and four different suits!) Mix and match is the name of the game.

Sometimes I feel a little sorry for those of you in warmer climes, even with snow on the horizon. One of my favorite things about living in New England is getting to experience all four seasons fully. Each month here breathes differently. Fall, in particular, brings with its sights and scents the strongest sense of nostalgia for me. I will visit so many places in my lifetime, but this will always be home. I am thankful that Maine is like Vermont in so many of the best ways.

Friday Favorites // 038 :: girldust.com

  1. This gorgeous vintage-inspired dress will be available for purchase in November from ModCloth. Totally swoony.
  2. These hand painted amethyst runes are lovely.
  3. I think this sweet rose vine crown would be a nice addition to any headpiece collection.
  4. Julep’s November Maven collection is perfect. Matte metallics! I chose “Cheyenne” (auburn) and “Sonia” (steel blue), which will both see me through the winter. I can’t wait to combine them with some of my Jamberry nail wraps. If you’ve been on the fence about becoming a Maven, it’s a great time to join. New Mavens can receive a four piece metallics welcome box for free (+ $2.99 shipping) when they sign up using this link. A fully customizable Maven subscription is $24.99 a month, and it’s easy to skip out on the collections you don’t like. Mavens also earn points with every purchase, which can be used on future boxes.
  5. I love this delicate US-made opal ring.
  6. I’d like to try to make barmbrack. It’s a good time of year to start using the oven again. I’m not normally a fruited cake kind of person, but this recipe makes it look alright. I’d probably just use a combination of dried cherries and cranberries, and omit the raisins altogether.
  7. This wool-blend skirt from PrAna is a serious wardrobe essential.
