  1. Some beardy fellow I know is getting a birthday gift from The Parks Project. Obviously, I’m not going to tell you what it is, but it’s not this tee. I want this tee for me.
  2. Until I’m able to find a reusable cup for iced coffee that I am 100% pleased with, disposable iced coffee cups are pretty much my one major ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE FOR THE PLANET …thing. I don’t drink a daily takeout iced coffee, but I definitely splurge multiple times a week. Enter, the coffee cozy. The Lovemich Collection iced coffee cozy has been a highly coveted item in my life for about two years, now, and I finally managed to snag the lovely purple one picture above. I totally understand the hype. My ice remained unmelted, my cup remained drip-free, and my hands (because ICED COFFEE ALL YEAR ROUND) remained relatively un-frozen. Do I maybe feel just a little bit “basic?” Yes, a bit. But I also feel really good about supporting a woman who makes a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing handmade product. The girl is a boss, and she deserves all the praise and hype she receives. Each product is available in very limited quantities during a short window of time. The shop sells out in a matter of minutes. I suggest joining the mailing list and setting a reminder when the next update comes around.
  3. A friendly reminder in the form of this enamel pin.
  4. Am I the only modern lady who’s a one-purse-at-a-time kind of person? I used to have a great little Lilypond bag that I managed to score second hand. It got lost at DCA long before its time was due, and as much as I’m okay with my current crossbody bag, it doesn’t really hold a candle to my old Lilypond. The Rainshower is likely to be my next purse.
  5. Hello. My name is Naomi and I am a Cocokind Collective convert. That alliteration, though. I recently purchased the matcha moisture stick to use on dry patches and dark circles, and I have to say it’s a keeper. This definitely falls under the category of “I could make this myself, but I simply can’t be bothered, and this is pretty much perfect.” The vegan-friendly version of this product contains shea butter and candelilla wax instead of beeswax.
  6. The Metamorphosis bath bomb from LUSH is only available online. I really wish I had a bathtub, because this speaks to me on a level I never thought possible in a bath product.
  7. I’m going to be honest. I am not in love with the newest catalog from Jamberry. Most of the new wraps are totally gaudy and unwearable. Shown here is New World, literally the only design I would purchase, given the disposable funds. It’s a nice combination of softer shades and graphic black and I fell for it immediately. Good for summertime, I think!

Sorry for the silence as of late. I realize there are only a handful of people reading this, but I do feel like I should be sharing something, even if it’s just a simple Friday Favorites. School is taking up a lot of my time and energy, which is not at all a bad thing, but it leaves little time for this space. I think the only other thing I have to offer right now is too many photos of my dumb cat. When I’m not reading or writing for class, I mostly just want to watch Netflix. I’m sure you understand. Also, my cat is just really darn photogenic.

Friday Favorites // 050 :: girldust.com

This is a downright summery Friday Favorites! Have a good weekend, friends! I hope you’re able to spend some time outside. ♥

  1. The June Julep Maven collection was revealed, today. We’re still in pastel and brights territory, which is why I skipped May’s box, but I like Alaina (driftwood taupe creme) from this collection. I’ve been keeping my nails short due to some damage, so I’m into neutral polishes, lately.
  2. The Tribeca top from Mata Traders is so, so cute. It’s available in a red print, as well.
  3. I might have to do a full second post on enamel pins, but for now can we please at least appreciate the Moustache P.I.N. by Full Sweatpants? My mom was a big fan of detective and mystery shows when I was growing up (which is definitely why I’m still kind of obsessed), and Magnum PI was one of our favorites to watch together.
  4. I’ve fallen hard for this sterling silver whale wrap ring from Alex and Ani.
  5. I think you know how much I love PrAna. It’s not like it’s some big secret. The Amelie dress (show here in Green Lace, because it’s adorable) is made of a 45% recycled blend. PrAna offers a number of Fair Trade, organic, and recycled options. Read more about their sustainability practices here. In the recent kerfuffle over labor practices of the “luxury” activewear industry, this is a company worth supporting.
  6. New shades from Rituel de Fille. Check out the Cultus collection! I’d love to get my hands on Whitethorn. These lipsticks are 100% worth the splurge, by the way. I purchased Rue a few months ago, and I’ve never looked back. All Rituel de Fille products are cruelty-free, 99% natural, and handcrafted without parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes or synthetic fragrances.
  7. We’re pretty candle obsessed in this house. Paddywax makes some of my favorites. This verbena and patchouli blend is new to me, and seems like it would smell amazing.

  1. I can picture myself living in this forest green cardigan from ModCloth. It’s got a hood!
  2. I love the Mütter Museum in Philadelphia. It had been on my “must see” museum list for years (every good museum nerd has one), and I finally had the opportunity to visit a couple birthdays ago. It was everything I hoped it would be. Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab’s Mütter inspired perfume, Umlaut, is available exclusively in the Mütter shop. The decription: “A mélange of balsams, leathers, and raw vanilla designed to evoke images of unearthed secrets and dusty, ancient libraries. An old fan favorite is once again brought to life within the Mütter Store and is the perfect scent to inspire memories of scanning the exhibits.” So. I probably need that.
  3. I love this stone and silver Earthshine ring by Shadow House.
  4. Yes to this black floppy wool felt hat. I’m looking forward to getting my hair trimmed and shaped so hats no longer look weird.
  5. This month, Julep brought back their black crème polish, Johnny. It’s basically the perfect black. All Julep polishes are 5-free and vegan-friendly.
  6. Oh. My. Goodness. I love Pam Wishbow‘s work. I think we need the protector sigil banner hanging in our house.
  7. These floral print ankle booties are so cute! Most of my clothes are basic and black, so I like the idea of adding a little color and detail with shoes or accessories.
  8. I think I’ve shared this earring set made by metalsmith Joanna Szkiela before, but I’m still in love. Her work is stunning.
  9. I wish we had a bathtub, because I’d love to try Lush’s new Guardian of the Forest bath bomb. Maybe Tj’s parents would let me borrow theirs?

I’ve been reading and drawing a lot this week, which has been pleasant enough. I can’t say I’m producing anything worth sharing, but it feels good just getting the kinks out. I don’t know if drawing is something I’d want to return to full time. My attention span just isn’t what it used to be; doing anything full time seems daunting. I’m all over the place. It’s something I’m working on.

Happy weekend, everyone.

I still have the two tank tops  I bought when Simka Sol was Bark Decor (Astral Teepee and Wolf Totem, which have both been seen briefly on the blog, on my torso). Sara’s business has grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years, and I will forever be in love with her handmade (right here in New England) pieces. You can purchase Simka Sol on etsy or shop the Spring/Summer collection here.

These are some new favorites. I am obsessed with the “Oracle” print. I’m not sure if you can tell.

A reboot! Friday Favorites is back! Retail therapy. Lately, my money is being stashed for gradschool and our end-of-August camping trip. I’m happy with this, but there are always things to dream of. I have a hard time letting go of my desires for material possessions. I think that will always be a work in progress. Also interesting to note: my style is becoming more and more feminine as weeks go by. Admittedly, there is a part of me that worries my short hair makes me look a little more androgynous than I would like to appear. That’s not to say I haven’t skirted the line in the past and enjoyed it, but these days, I am feeling comfortably soft.
