  1. Some beardy fellow I know is getting a birthday gift from The Parks Project. Obviously, I’m not going to tell you what it is, but it’s not this tee. I want this tee for me.
  2. Until I’m able to find a reusable cup for iced coffee that I am 100% pleased with, disposable iced coffee cups are pretty much my one major ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE FOR THE PLANET …thing. I don’t drink a daily takeout iced coffee, but I definitely splurge multiple times a week. Enter, the coffee cozy. The Lovemich Collection iced coffee cozy has been a highly coveted item in my life for about two years, now, and I finally managed to snag the lovely purple one picture above. I totally understand the hype. My ice remained unmelted, my cup remained drip-free, and my hands (because ICED COFFEE ALL YEAR ROUND) remained relatively un-frozen. Do I maybe feel just a little bit “basic?” Yes, a bit. But I also feel really good about supporting a woman who makes a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing handmade product. The girl is a boss, and she deserves all the praise and hype she receives. Each product is available in very limited quantities during a short window of time. The shop sells out in a matter of minutes. I suggest joining the mailing list and setting a reminder when the next update comes around.
  3. A friendly reminder in the form of this enamel pin.
  4. Am I the only modern lady who’s a one-purse-at-a-time kind of person? I used to have a great little Lilypond bag that I managed to score second hand. It got lost at DCA long before its time was due, and as much as I’m okay with my current crossbody bag, it doesn’t really hold a candle to my old Lilypond. The Rainshower is likely to be my next purse.
  5. Hello. My name is Naomi and I am a Cocokind Collective convert. That alliteration, though. I recently purchased the matcha moisture stick to use on dry patches and dark circles, and I have to say it’s a keeper. This definitely falls under the category of “I could make this myself, but I simply can’t be bothered, and this is pretty much perfect.” The vegan-friendly version of this product contains shea butter and candelilla wax instead of beeswax.
  6. The Metamorphosis bath bomb from LUSH is only available online. I really wish I had a bathtub, because this speaks to me on a level I never thought possible in a bath product.
  7. I’m going to be honest. I am not in love with the newest catalog from Jamberry. Most of the new wraps are totally gaudy and unwearable. Shown here is New World, literally the only design I would purchase, given the disposable funds. It’s a nice combination of softer shades and graphic black and I fell for it immediately. Good for summertime, I think!

Sorry for the silence as of late. I realize there are only a handful of people reading this, but I do feel like I should be sharing something, even if it’s just a simple Friday Favorites. School is taking up a lot of my time and energy, which is not at all a bad thing, but it leaves little time for this space. I think the only other thing I have to offer right now is too many photos of my dumb cat. When I’m not reading or writing for class, I mostly just want to watch Netflix. I’m sure you understand. Also, my cat is just really darn photogenic.

Friday Favorites // 057 ::

  1. In support of The National Parks Conservation Association and The National Park Foundation, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab has released a new scent. From BPAL: “The Theoi Nomioi are the gods and spirits of the wild: the countryside, the pastures, the forests. Under their auspices, untamed nature thrives, the beasts of the wild feast and multiply, the mountains reach to the heavens with their stony, snow-capped fingers, and the forests grow thick and dark with mystery.” You can follow the rogue un-gagged NPS Twitter account here, @AltNatParkSer.
  2. I guess I’m just feeling soft pinks and purples these days. This rhodonite Precious Threads bracelet from Alex and Ani is calling to me in dulcet, romantic tones.
  3. Spring has officially sprung at PrAna, and the collection is right up my alley. I’m particularly fond of this crochet neck top, which is Fair Trade and made from a recycled/organic fabric blend.
  4. Speaking of spring (because that’s what we do in January, I guess), Sparitual’s Inhale collection is gorgeous. Shown here is Inner Peace, which is probably my favorite of the bunch.
  5. Wave rings are back in stock at Pura Vida Bracelets. Available in gold plate and sterling silver. You can save 20% on your Pura Vida order with the code NAOMIDENSMORE20.
  6. These wooden sunglasses are on my shopping list. My current pair of shades is completely and utterly useless. Sometimes a girl just needs something both practical and fun. Love the rainbow.

I haven’t posted in so long that I actually had to log in to WordPress.

I normally find myself coming to this space when I’m also busy with other things. Habit. It’s the battlecry of my generation, or something, that WE CAN MULTITASK ALL THE THINGS. I now find that idea exhausting. Do we always have to be doing a THING? Is it okay to just be for a moment? Can I put my phone away?

When I am not busy, though, is when the world seems its bleakest. When my brain is not occupied with ALL THE THINGS, melancholy tends to settle in.

So. I tend to choose the THINGS, but will occasionally turn off anything that requires to be turned on.

April Come She Will ::

Spring’s appearance has been interrupted a handful of times now by snowfall, but I think it might finally be here. Most of the recent snow melted yesterday. I’ve got that anxious feeling I get when the air starts to smell a certain way and the days lengthen. The ground is still frozen, and the wind still has a bit of bite to it, but everything is slowly coming out of slumber.

I don’t think I will ever tire of sitting on this river bank. I am thankful to be here in this time and place, with the option to occasionally unplug.

Friday Favorites // 047 ::

  1. Story time! I lived in an O ring choker during my high school years which, in retrospect, was probably wildly inappropriate. I am certain the website I bought it from did, in fact, call it a bondage collar. I’m not sure why that slipped under the radar at school. Then again, I guess if you’re the quiet “artsy” girl in AP classes who has followed all the rules since you were six, you can get away with just about anything. And not to be morbid, but I’m sure the “dead mom” card came into play on occasion. Further proof: my friends and I once ran a late 80s/early 90s themed lunch time radio show that we named “Tight Alice.” We also performed a musical puppet show version of The Crucible in which we yelled/sang the word “whore,” loudly, for no reason, and with no repercussions. So. Anyway. This choker by Blackhorne makes me feel nostalgic.
  2. This shortie romper is the cutest. Floral on black means springtime!
  3. This distressed leather travel wallet from Free People is perfect.
  4. Whiskey River Soap Company is currently on my radar. Soap for Plain Old Depressed People (which smells like peppermint schnapps) is my favorite, but there are some really funny ones.
  5. I’ve been hearing good good things about Black Moon Cosmetics. Libra is a flattering mauve-y nude shade, and I’m into it. These lipsticks are vegan, cruelty-free and free of parabens.
  6. This is the coolest lip balm container I’ve ever seen.
  7. I want every single one of these blind box figures. The newest series by Nathan Jurevicius and Kid Robot  is called Nightriders.

  • $5 spring polishes at Julep until Sunday! Pastels are not my thing, but there’s a great matte metallic silver (“Jo”) on sale, too! Stock up on these shades while you can. Julep polishes are 5-free and vegan-friendly!
  • Tj and I recently started watching The Detectorists and I’m really into it. It’s a much sweeter show than I expected it to be.
  • This collaboration between Darby Lahger (Old Hag) and Naomi Nowak (of Raintower) is called Soothsayer and it’s absolutely magical. The design is available in a few different styles, all handmade in Sweden from recycled textiles. These two woman are beautiful human beings, inside and out. I will never be so beautiful, but that’s okay. Because there is proof that beautiful, intelligent, talented people exist in the world, and I’m happy about that.

Happy Friday! I’m spending my weekend finishing up some schoolwork and working on a potential project proposal before we head down to DC on Monday. Tj’s on vacation! Expect photos! Or maybe not. I’m really inconsistent, lately. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve got a lot on back burners. I’m hoping the rest of the words come soon. Do you ever think about how some stories from your life might not really be your stories to tell?

Friday Favorites // 046 ::

  1. Cute boots! When it comes to boots, I usually prefer leather for the longevity, but these are a nice vegan option.
  2. New wraps from Jamberry! I wasn’t head-over-heels in love with this catalog release, but there are a few designs that work for me. I like Brooklyn Bridge and Sculpted.
  3. This ring is so pretty.
  4. This cool fuchsia shade from Tarte is called Surfer Girl. I need. I am kind of obsessed with purple pinks, right now.
  5. LUSH’s springtime selection has arrived! The Ultraviolet bubble bar will let you ring in the season with violet, ylang ylang, and jasmine scented foam. Yes, please.
  6. Teakwood and cardamom!? Wood wicks? Burke and Hare Candle Company can clearly do no wrong. Loving the blue glass, too.
  7. I love everything about this long black cardigan from ModCloth.

I’m writing to you from Philadelphia, this week! We’re here until Thursday. I’m looking forward to discovering a few more bits and pieces of this city. I’ll be taking Tj to the Mütter tomorrow, and Franklin Fountain is obviously on our repeat list. We have friends showing us some restaurants, as well. It will be nice to visit some of their favorite places before they move home to Maine (♥), where we’ll show them more of ours.
